Career Accomplishments:

Expert was elected President of the American Dairy Science Association for 1985-86.


Expert received the Harold Macy Award for teaching, research, and technology transfer to the cheese industry (1986), and the Borden Award (1988). He also received the Pfizer Research Award (1971) and the Dairy Research Foundation Award (1978), both of which are administered through the American Dairy Science Association.

  • Recently, Expert worked with a cheese marketer to revise procurement standards; suggestions were implemented. Expert has recommended revisions in cheese manufacturing to minimize "Maillard-type" browning of cheese which were instituted and were successful. Expert Witness Experience Summary:
Expert assisted in attorneys in gathering data for two US patent litigation cases, which are still in progress. He provided deposition for a lawsuit that was settled in favor of client before trial. Additionally, Expert has acted as an expert witness in a European patent hearing.

For more than 35 years, Expert taught a short course in cheese technology at the Expert's University-Madison. He was the principal lecturer and laboratory instructor for this course, as well. Expert has also given numerous seminars and one-day short courses at individual companies. As Director of the Center for Dairy Research, Expert's University-Madison, Expert established an Information Transfer Section which organized industry seminars, brought in international experts to speak to industry groups, and developed an on-going program of developing videos of various topics for industry.
