Summary of Expertise: Listed with other top experts in:
BIOCOMPATIBLE METALS, POLYMERS, AND MATERIALS. Most of Expert's professional experience is in both synthetic and natural materials. For the last 20 years he has worked with absorbable and non-absorbable polymers and their composites. As a result, an absorbable monofilament suture, an arthroscopic device, and a wound closure device have been marketed. His current interests are in orthopaedic biomaterials and composites.

MEDICAL DEVICES; MEDICAL POLYMER. Expert has worked in the extrusion, injection molding, and fiber spinning of absorbable and non-absorbable polymers. He has worked in-depth with molded medical devices for arthroscopy and general surgery products. He developed the material and process for an absorbable soft tissue/bone fixation device. He also developed the material for a partially absorbable composite bone plate. He has developed and implemented processes to manufacture sutures.

FDA MEDICAL DEVICE CODES; ORTHOPAEDIC DEVICES. Expert is extremely knowledgeable regarding US FDA and international regulations for medical device registration. In his work with a composite material for total hip replacement, he managed to transfer this material from Europe, then set up animal studies of a prototype of this composite. He later took part in the preparation of the investigation device application to the FDA.
