He has had extensive experience working with a wide variety of industries on their medical programs. He is highly skilled in equipment selection, development of standard operation procedures (SOPs), NIOSH approved staff training in spirometry (lung function testing) and audiometry (hearing conservation), quality assurance and control programs, data analysis, and epidemiology. He also is adept at screening personnel for their ability to wear a respirator. He has conducted many epidemiologic studies on industrial populations including the effect of hair spray, cotton dust, silica, and SO(2) on the respiratory system. Expert is very experienced in establishing medical risk management programs for industry. He has written many medical testing standard operating procedure manuals for industry, so that businesses will meet all regulatory agency requirements.

SPIROMETRY; CHRONIC DISEASE AND OCCUPATIONAL EPIDEMIOLOGY; BYSSINOSIS; CARBON MONOXIDE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECT. Expert's expertise in spirometry includes testing procedures, OSHA and EPA law, and equipment specifications. He is adept at conducting epidemiological studies on population groups, primarily in cardio-pulmonary disease. While at the U.S. Public Health Service, he was the NIOSH Project Officer (Chief Investigator) for a number of epidemiological surveys. These included byssinosis (cotton gins), thesaurosis (beauticians), silicosis (brick workers), carbon monoxide exposures to railroad workers, and lead and cadmium health hazards to smelter employees. He conducts two-day training seminars to teach medical professionals how to conduct spirometry testing correctly, perform quality control checks, interpret data, and perform trend analyses. He also shows how to set up screening and surveillance programs for industries. He conducts these courses throughout the Unites States at company sites, where the course is customized to that industry.
