HEAT TRANSFER; MULTIPHASE HEAT TRANSFER. Expert has devoted his career to teaching and research in heat transfer (radiation, convection, conduction, combustion, and heat exchangers in liquids, gases and multiphase systems) in which he has published over 100 papers.
HEAT EXCHANGER FOULING; CALCIUM CARBONATE. Expert is also active in fouling and scale deposition research and fouling prevention by ozonation and other techniques. This work specializes on silica and calcium carbonate scale deposition on heat transfer surfaces by ground water and fluids.
TWO-PHASE FLOW; BOILING HEAT TRANSFER. Expert is experienced with pressure drop and heat transfer in two-phase flows and boiling heat transfer as well as evaporation and condensation.
LOW EMISSION COMBUSTION. Along with his associates, Expert is conducting research on low NOx emission of burners, flame structures, and effects of thermal radiation on combustion.
LIQUID METAL COMBUSTION. Expert is knowledgable of combustion characteristics of alkali metals and other liquid metals. He is familiar with turbulent flow and the structure of an oxidant gaseous jet submerged and reacted with the liquid metal fuels.
TURBULENT COMBUSTION. Expert is familiar with modeling of turbulent flow and turbulent modeling of single and multiphase flows.
FLOW MECHANICS. Expert is experienced with a variety of flow mechanics including flow-through nozzles, orifices, pipes, choked flow, turbulent flow, and pressure drop.
EVALUATION OF THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES. Expert's expertise in thermal radiation lies in thermal radiation properties and analysis through absorbing, emitting and scattering media.
EQUILIBRIUM THERMODYNAMICS. Other areas of expertise that S.H is involved include electrical and microelectronics cooling, combustion furnaces, and equilibrium thermodynamics (chemical equilibrium, freezing, melting, boiling, condensing).
FLUID MECHANICS; FLUID FLOW MEASUREMENT; GAS ORIFICE AND NOZZLE FLOW. Expert is experienced in fluid mechanics including two phase flow, steam flow, gas flow and measurement, liquid flow, orifice and nozzle flow, and hydraulic jets.
METHANE-AIR COMBUSTION. A large portion of Expert's research efforts were devoted to the combustion process of burning natural gas in air. He also conducted sponsored research projects on CH4/air combustion.
NOX AND SOOT FORMATION. Expert has researched the emission of NOx and soot from burning natural gas and other hydrocarbon fuels.
