Summary of Expertise: Listed with other top experts in:
CHEMICAL PROCESS PLANT DESIGN; FACILITY DESIGN; SOLIDS HANDLING EQUIPMENT; POWDER HANDLING; SOLID HANDLING. The emphasis of Expert's career over the past fifteen years has been the design of chemical processing units involving solids as raw materials and/or products. This has included the solids-based portions of eight major operating facilities. Expert's success in this field is due primarily to the wide technology base and experience he acquired while he was the solids handling and processing consultant for the engineering department of a major chemical company. Operations included in Expert's design and consulting experience include separations (both solid-solid and solid-liquid), storage, conveying, mixing, basic production of particles, size reduction, and size enlargement for all types of particulate solids. During that period, he started and developed a solids handling and processing skill center and a solids testing laboratory for the department. Both of these are still functioning and are considered vital to continuing successful solids processing design. Expert has found that every particulate solid is unique and that an in-depth knowledge of the effects of physical properties on equipment operation is needed to design new equipment and to select the proper commercially-available equipment.

HOPPER; BIN; SILO; SOLID STORAGE. Expert has found that the successful designer of solids storage equipment, which includes hoppers, bins, and silos, has hands-on experience with a wide range of solids and an in-depth knowledge of the effects of physical properties on the behavior of solids during storage, filling, and discharging operations. Expert's ability for such work is based on knowledge and experience acquired as the internal solids storage consultant for the engineering department of a major chemical company, during which time he performed the functional design for all hoppers and bins for new facilities. He developed and operated a laboratory for the determination of physical properties pertinent to successful storage of solids.
