Summary of Expertise: Listed with other top experts in:
Expert (or "Tom") has spent much of his career synthesizing polymers suitable for radiation curing, ultraviolet absorbers, and water soluble polymers for electrocoating and low VOC coatings, as well as thermosetting acrylics for container coatings. He also developed epoxy can coatings. Later he helped introduce the first cationic electrocoating process in the appliance industry. He is active in emission reduction and the introduction of new technology in coatings.

Expert introduced cationic electrocoating to the appliance industry by spearheading a technology proving program. Cationic electro-coating is now used worldwide. Expert did extensive troubleshooting on electro-coat lines. He used cationic electro-coating to demonstrate porcelain replacement technology.

cationic electrocoating

Expert worked on the first powder coat application to replace porcelain at Whirlpool on freezer liners. He supported efforts to provide powdercoating on dryer drums, and washer tops and lids. He provided technical support solving coating defect problems on KitchenAid mixers.

Expert synthesized numerous radiation curable polymers (five patents) for wood and metal finishing. He developed novel low dose sulfur-containing systems for electron beam curing. He also developed coatings based on these systems.
