Expert has been involved with advanced materials and their related processing and development for over 50 years. He has extensive experience in the areas of high-temperature aerospace materials, research and development, processing, and fabrication.

For the past 15 years, Expert's emphasis has been in the areas of high-performance metal-matrix composites (MMCs) based on aluminum, titanium, and refractory metal alloys reinforced with various ceramic fibers (and filaments, whiskers, and particulates) of silicon carbide, carbon, and oxides. He is familiar with most technologies related to this field.

Expert actively developed aluminum-graphite (Al-G) composites for 10 years. He is a recognized contributor in the demonstration of the fabrication feasibility of high-performance Al-G reinforced tubes for space structures, using a modified controlled temperature hot-drawing process.

Expert is an expert in most powder metallurgy techniques for processing specialty powders, such as titanium, refractory metals, aluminum-based, and others. He has extensive experience with hot-isostatic-pressing (HIP), cold-isostatic-pressing (CIP), vacuum hot-pressing, extrusion, hot-drawing (pultrusion), and other various consolidation, shaping, and bonding processes for metal powders. His expertise also applies to powder compositions reinforced with ceramic whiskers and particulates. He is also knowledgeable of procurement, manufacturing, and R&D in the above areas.

Having worked with plasma spray processes for 10 years, Expert has extensive experience in the field. He has worked with both conventional and non-conventional thermal spray processes. He is an expert in both powder and wire arc spray processes and inert atmosphere / low-pressure-vacuum chamber spraying. He is well-connected with the thermal spray industry and can perform technical liaison services in this area, including equipment requirements.

He also has expertise in low-pressure-induction-plasma spray (LPIS) processing of titanium powders. Expert demonstrated the LPIS fabrication of large (1m x 3m) titanium monotapes used in composite fabrications and the spraying of intermetallic powders for sheet forms.
