STRUCTURE-PROPERTY RELATIONSHIP IN FIBERS. Expert has been involved in studies on the development of fine structure (morphology) in fibers and its effect on the physical and mechanical properties of fibers. His work has led to the development of a proprietary fiber which can be applied for textile uses.

PROCESSING OF FIBERS INTO YARNS AND FABRICS. The bulk of Expert's work has included the processing dynamics of converting staple fibers, such as cotton, wool, jute, polyester, nylon, acrylics, and rayons, into yarns on various spinning systems. Examples of these systems include ring, open-end, and airjet. His work has also concerned the structure property relationship in yarns and woven fabrics.

NONWOVEN FABRIC TECHNOLOGIES. Expert has been involved with the development of processes for nonwoven fabrics. He has also studied how process dynamics affect the structure of nonwoven fabrics. These fabrics include drylaid, spunbond, meltblown, and other types of nonwovens.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL STRUCTURES FOR COMPOSITE APPLICATIONS. Expert is involved in the development of 3-D woven, nonwoven, and braided textile structures for use in composites. One of his projects has culminated in the design, fabrication, and use of a machine which can produce multiaxial tubular structures.
