Summary of Expertise: Listed with other top experts in:
Expert spent over 33 years in engineering for General Motors, his last 17 years as the Engineering Director for Corvette. The Engineering Director is responsible for the entire automobile, its design, manufacture, cost, reliability and safe performance in the hands of the customer. In this lead role he had to be knowledgeable of every aspect of the car. In the case of the Corvette he was leading a team that was developing cars that performed at the leading edge of what was possible ultimately leading to the 180 mph ZR-1 and the current generation C5 and C6 Corvettes. Cars, which perform on the street and on the race track with the best of exotic cars.

In order to make the Corvette a performance icon, has knowledge and understanding of all the subsystems, and technologies that make up a modern automobile. These range from high-performance power trains to ultra high speed tires to the light alloy and composite technologies that have made light weight high performance Corvettes possible. Modern cars deliver their performance as a result of electronic management of systems. The Corvette is a prime example, with computers managing engine, chassis braking and stability systems and body computers providing infotainment.

Since retirement from GM, expert used these experiences to managed an experimental car program that used 4 wheel steer by-wire and brake by-wire to demonstrate possibilities for future active safety systems.

Corvette highlights include: • The first composite (fiberglass) suspension-leaf spring, for a 600% weight savings. Today, millions of cars and trucks use similar composite springs. • Engineering an all new Corvette as an aluminum-intensive sports car. • The first electronic anti-theft, ignition key system, and Passive Keyless Entry system. • Develop the Corvette as a production race car to compete in the SCCA Showroom Stock Endurance Series, in which Corvettes won every race in the three-year series, including all of the 24-hour races. • The first six-speed manual transmission. • The ZR-1 Corvette supercar, • The first current generation driver side air bag. • Run flat tires. • The fifth generation C5 Corvette. The 22-Hz convertible structure and packaging to accommodate the engine, transmission, and passenger requirements were a new paradigm in convertible design.

Expert has extensive experience consulting as an automotive engineer. He participated in a hybrid gas turbine flywheel-battery program, an electric car program that is a joint venture with a Chinese company and for numerous companies that develop automotive components and materials.

Expert Witness:
Expert Witness Experience Summary:
Expert has been on cases where the "expert" of the details botched the case because they didn't apply basic engineering principals to the situation of the case. In one such case when Expert finally got involved and straightened the case out the lawyer sent him the following unsolicited testimonial:

"Your work on the case was invaluable. I had an incredible team of world class experts but once I started talking to you and got back to them it was kind of "oh, yeah...wonder why we didn't see that..." You very quickly sourced the problem, and helped us steer the case into a better direction."

Expert has received a similar testimonial from an attorney on a Mustang Seat Belt Failure case:

"This expert's reputation is well known in Detroit as the Chief Engineer of the Corvette. Since his retirement from GM in 1992, he has earned a well deserved reputation as a highly qualified product liability expert, expert witness and consultant. This expert was brought in as my expert in an accident case where the driver was injured, the air bag did not deploy and the seat belt worn was not effective. On site inspection of the vehicle resulted in the expert uncovering a problem with the 3 point lap/shoulder belt that allowed the injury. I highly recommend him as an expert in the field of product liability consulting. I was very pleased with his services in this case. He understands that a plaintiff's pocketbook is not Detroit's, and he works within budget to provide excellent service and results. He is hands-on, practical, and provides a wealth of experience in the field of product failure, and with his many years in the automotive industry he has at his disposal the resources and expertise to provide a full package.”

And, he notes this comment that was in a letter to Intota of 10/25/11:

"We take this opportunity to commend your company for being able to include this expert as among your panel of experts. Very special!”

Keep in mind that expertise is first needed at the system level to uncover the salient issues of the case. Sub system expertise can then be applied to the details, but without the systems level approach the "detail guys" can get it all wrong, destroying the integrity of the case. Expert is your system guy.
