Expert has over 45 years of experience as a consultant to major domestic and international organizations, as Vice President of various Bechtel entities, as executive Vice President of Lurgi Corporation, and as Director of the Long Range Planning Service, Stanford Research Institute (now SRI International). After receiving his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Stanford University, Expert engaged in oxidation and polymer chemistry research at the M.W. Kellogg Co., followed by an extension of this research at Richfield Oil Corporation. This research was focused on peroxide catalysis and the development of commercial oxidation technology for the production of phthalic acids. Subsequently, Expert became Technical Director of Pilot Chemical Co., a small detergent company, responsible for the development and improvement in the company's unique sulfonation process and for the staffing and operation of the company's quality control laboratory.

At Stanford Research Institute, Expert was involved in a number of R&D planning studies for major industrial corporations as well as authoring Long Range Planning Reports on R&D related subjects such as catalysis, industrial microbiology and adhesives. Afterward, his work with Lurgi emphasized commercialization of a wide variety of process technologies. As Vice President of Research Programs for Bechtel National Inc., Expert was responsible for developing access to and applications for new technology, which offered significant commercial potential to Bechtel. His assignment as Vice President of Bechtel Environmental Inc. (BEI) placed him in a key technology role with a company that was listed in the top 10 firms in Engineering News Record's list of leading hazardous waste design firms.

Expert is now a consultant specializing in technology-oriented problem solving, strategic planning, market and marketing research, and general management consulting for domestic and international clients. He has had considerable strategic planning and international experience. Early in his career at SRI, Expert was involved as a principal in many strategic planning assignments for major domestic and international enterprises. He was also Director of SRI's Long Range Planning Service which served more than 400 client companies worldwide. His next role in corporate planning was with Bechtel Corporation as Planning Systems Manager, and later, Manager of Corporate Planning. In these positions, he was responsible for establishing Bechtel's first corporate planning system and carrying the planning process through four annual planning cycles.

He has had considerable international experience, starting first with a work assignment in Switzerland in 1961 for SRI. This was followed in 1965 by residency in Portugal for SRI while performing a series of chemical and energy industry planning and rationalization studies. As Manager Of Business Development for Bechtel's San Francisco office of the Refinery and Chemical Division, Expert was responsible for sales in the Pacific Region including countries such as Australia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. While Executive Vice President of Lurgi Corp., the U.S. subsidiary of the German company Lurgi GmbH, Expert spent a significant portion of his time in Europe working with his German colleagues. His assignments as Vice President, Bechtel Environmental Inc., and Vice President, Bechtel National Inc., were global in scope. Expert was resident in Germany from 1990 to 1991, responsible for establishing and managing an alliance between Bechtel and Mannesmann focused on markets in Eastern Germany, Eastern Europe and the former USSR. He was most recently on assignment for the International Executive Service Corps (IESC) in Brazil assisting Petrobras with planning for a diesel fuel desulfurization program at one of their refineries.
