Expert has been very actively engaged in the design, development, qualification, and final test of low and medium gain horn, helix, microstrip, and quadrifilar helix antennas in the L through X band microwave frequencies. These have included linearly polarized and circularly polarized units with custom gains, beamwidths, and bandwidths. All of this work has involved the mangement, engineering, and operation of anechoic chambers, far field antenna ranges, and standard microwave test equipment. Expert has written more than 20 successful proposals to customers including NASA, the USAF, and several private aerospace companies. Expert's efforts ran the gamit from proposal all the way through final reporting.

Expert has designed and developed circularly and linearly polarized microstrip patch antennas for spacecraft applications. Familiar with Ansoft Designer and analytical tools for microstrip patch design. More than 10 years experience with prototype and single unit fabrication techniques for spacecraft and missile microstrip patch antennas. Developed, tested, qualified, and delivered GPS microstrip patch antenna for Minuteman III fleet verification flight tests.

Expert has 6 years experience working as a systems engineer at the White Sands Complex NASA TDRSS facility. Performed satellite link analysis as part of systems engineering activities at the ground station.

Expert has been the principal engineer for the design and development of a number of spacecraft antennas. These antennas have flown on MightySat, Genesis, Stardust, Hessi, Hete, Terriers, Most, ST-5, and other spacecraft. In addition, expert has designed and developed a number of antenna hat couplers to match the spacecraft antennas. These development programs were directed by the expert - from proposal on through design, qualification, flight build, and acceptance testing.

Expert has more than 20 years experience with the Numerical Electromagnetic Code (NEC) as a practical user seeking to solve reasonable problems in a timely fashion. For example, expert has used NEC as an analysis tool for the development of spacecraft antennas such as an X-band quadrifilar helix and an S-band monofilar helix. Expert also has significant experience designing and producing microstrip single patch and multi-element arrays for spacecraft and conformal missile antennas. These units have been primarily in the L to S band frequency range.

Expert has been directly responsible for antenna test and diagnostic activities for spacecraft and missile antennas developed by the expert as well as for contract measurement programs of antennas both singly and as antenna systems installed on full-scale electromagnetic mockups of customer spacecraft and missiles. Expert has been responsible for directing measurement programs as well as ensuring the delivery of the final data packages to the customer.

Expert has spent the last 10 years in the development and test of low gain antennas for aerospace applications.

  • The expert worked for several years on location at the Los Alamos National Laboratory developing the RF receiver for the Blackbeard experiment on the Alexis spacecraft.
  • He worked for a 4 year period on the design and development of the electronics for a natural gas and oil field well supervisory control and data acquisition system. This was for a small business, Xytec, formed by the expert and his associates.
  • The expert consulted to Contel at the Falcon Air Force Station in Colorado Springs and analyzed the land mobile system connectectivity. This was part of his duties when employed at the Physical Science Laboratory.
  • He consulted to a major aircraft manufacturer to help them optimize their telemetry systems used for the flight test of the F-16 fighter.
