His past projects include reactor vessels, suspended powder transport, steam mixers, and design support of aircraft, gearbox, electronics, and incinerator fluids performance. He holds MS degree in fluids from the University of Colorado.

Selected Consulting Examples:
  • SELF EXCITED VIBRATION - Analyzed a 200HP gearbox that vibrated violently and unpredictably. The root cause was modal coupling, where a shaft's bending and torsion modes were separated by only 10 Hz, allowing shaft motion to couple with gearbox power flow.
  • ACOUSTIC ISOLATION - Isolated a yttrium crystal circuit from angstrom sized deflections during 7G shock events. Circuit treatment involved softening the acoustic wave path into the circuit. All vibration modes were invisible, but diagnosable by their frequency signature.
  • GAS MODELING - Tripled the retention time of a reactor vessel by modeling in CFD. The untreated vessel had strong recirculation paths that occupied most of the process space. The treated vessel used swirl flows to shrink recirculation.
  • ELASTIC DEFLECTIONS - Diagnosed the driving mechanism behind 3/2 order propellor whirl. The engine case deflected because the shear center was located far from piston forces. The motor case was an open section governed by warping torsion.
  • COGENERATION BURNER FLAMEOUT - Diagnosed burner failure at a cogeneration facility. An improperly designed plenum allowed wall attachment of a high velocity jet, flooding and starving an over and under burner set. After diagnosis, the burner was cured with perforated plates.
