Summary of Expertise:

Listed with other top experts in:

Expert is what Malcolm Gladwell (Author of “The Tipping Point”) would call a ‘connector' — her real strength being her enthusiasm for, and strategic ability to open doors for others, serving as a bridge to new opportunities and growth. This is a strength that creates tremendous opportunities for Expert's clients.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Expert Communications, LLC consults with companies on go-to-market strategies and market development issues, business development & lead generation strategies, competitive & market analysis, helping them to define and develop strategies for success. She works specifically on business development and strategy projects, helping clients to identify, target, and attract new clients, as well as representing them into new deals.

Her experience straddles the worlds of international business development, marketing, communications and technology. While grounded in the disciplines of international advertising, pr, and marketing, Expert also has a unique perspective on cleantech and internet-driven business models and technologies, and her ability to quickly grasp new business and technology concepts, coupled with her networking finesse, and her unique, very personalized approach to executive-level business development make her an invaluable asset to her clients.

Expert has advised countless companies and their executives - across industries and product categories - on go-to-market strategies and competitive positioning, and has authored white papers and market impact assessments for her clients, developed messaging and partnership strategies, assessed and critiqued business plans, and provided due diligence for top tier Silicon Valley VC's. She has in turn also pitched and sold products and services - from enterprise logistics software to consumer products, and research services. One of the software industry's first technology analysts to cover online marketplaces and e-procurement technology vendors, Expert's familiarity with internet technologies and business models in such areas as e-procurement, Master Data Management and item master management, enterprise logistics, spend management, supplier enablement, sourcing, content management and catalog hosting and management is unusual. Her technology clients while an analyst included companies such as Perfect and Commerce One, now Perfect.com, Ariba, Rightworks, and Calico Commerce (acquired later by PeopleSoft). She has been quoted in numerous publications - InfoWorld, Information Week, Red Herring, Construction.com, Internetnews.com, Darwin Magazine, Line56 and Radio Wall Street and also appeared on PBS' CEOWatch.

She has a Master's Degree in German from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Bachelor's degree in International Studies/German Studies from Northwestern University. Expert began her professional career in Germany, in 1994, interning with Deutsche Bank, while at the same time studying business management (Betriebswirtschaftslehre) in German for a year as part of a Madison-Freiburg Sister City Partnership Post Graduate Fellowship program. She was later hired by the Managing Director of the Frankfurt, Germany offices of Leo Burnett as a key bi-lingual American hire on Leo Burnett's team of client advisors to Philip Morris to manage and execute a comprehensive range of advertising activities for their client Philip Morris.

business development

She excels in 3 areas: strategy development, research & analysis, and door-opening at the executive level with ‘cold' contacts and prospects, engaging on the front end in business development cycles for clients, working to develop rapport and interest with prospects, partners – even the media. As such, she founded Expert Communications, LLC to be able to do what she excels in doing: analyzing and identifying target markets and channels of opportunity, defining the go-to- market strategies needed to be successful, crafting the approaches needed to successfully open doors, and door-opening into prospective V-and C-level clients and partners. Her one goal in working with you, as a client is to help you improve your bottom line.

One of the reasons she founded Expert Communications is that it's almost impossible for busy executives of emerging and growth companies to be both responsible for generating new business while at the same time working on building pipeline – whether they're launching a new company, product or service, or growing an existing business with an existing, albeit not ‘complete' team. And entrepreneurs generally need high-caliber support, as do the investors supporting them. Expert Communications, LLC provides clients with a highly competitive pricing model that works.

Services

Process Her process is straightforward: she starts with a one hour briefing to understand your business model and your needs, and go from there – whether you need support temporarily, or for 3 months, or 3 years. she tells all of her clients that she likes to start working with them by understanding their 30-60-90-120 day goals. If you can work backward from those points in time and know what your priority list is, it's fairly straightforward to develop a working plan together.

Also worked with the international sales organization to facilitate prospect meetings in Germany and Switzerland. Also engaged in strategic partnership activities that took me to Hong Kong.

Language Skills:
Foreign Language   Description
German   M.A. in German. Still retain a high degree of fluency.
French   Her French has gotten pretty lousy. It used to be much better. Today, if she's exposed to it enough, she can read it somewhat and can speak it haltingly, at best. Her recent project with APEC was fortunately one that didn't require a lot of speaking ability, but she worked with a 99% French team that often spoke in French, and she can attest to the fact that she's very, very rusty, but about 3 days in, if she's had total absorption, she can survive somewhat.
Spanish   Basic comprehension. Nothing more than that.
Dutch   Same - basic level of comprehension. Knowing German means she can understand a lot of what she reads in Dutch.

Market Research:
Expert's experience straddles the worlds of international business development, marketing, communications and technology.
