Expert joined the rubber industry in 1969 after he graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell with a B.S. Degree in Plastics Engineering. He has held various positions throughout his career involving laboratory management, compound design, process evaluation, process and product enhancement, laboratory design, compound specification development, procedural and MSDS writings, technical training as well as technical sales and service.

He has experience in Injection, Injection Compression, Transfer, and Compression molding techniques as well as process design and enhancement, compound material design, technical writing, technical training, specification development, and laboratory layouts.

Expert has experience in formulating compounds for specific application, and molding techniques that include the following polymers: IIR, IR, NR, EPT, EPDM, CR, HNB, HNBR, ACM, AEM, TFEP AND FKM.

He has been a member of ASTM International since 1986, receiving the Society's Distinguished Service Award in 1998. Since 1996, he has represented the USA as a member, and then as a voting delegate of the International Standards Organization Technical Advisory Group - 45 on rubber.

He currently holds the position of Chairman of D11 Committee on Rubber and Chairman of committee D11.10 - Physical Testing. He has also held the positions of D11- First Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Subcommittee D11.14 - Time and Temperature-Dependent Physical Properties, Secretary of Subcommittee D11.08 - Terminology.

He owns his own consulting business which was established in 2002. His firm is a LLC which was created in 2003. He is the sole member of this company which is a consulting company specializing in Rubber compound design, Specification Development, Process Evaluation & Enhancement, Procedure and MSDS writings, & Technical training.

In 1993, he completed advance studies, and received his MBA from Plymouth State College.
