He has developed applications for mobile handsets and other wireless devices using J2ME/MIDP2.0 and C. He also developed PC applications in Java SE, C, and C++ that interfaces with the cell phone using 802.15.4 (Zigbee) and Bluetooth. These devices included indoor location beacons, Zigbee to IR conversion device to allow the cell phone control entertainment devices such as TVs DVD players, and the Digital Paperclip - a wireless device that attaches to personal assets (eg. keys) and allow the cell phone to alert the user when the item is being left behind, preventing its loss.

Expert has over 7 years of managing a key intellectual property area for wearable concepts. This involved reviewing invention ideas submitted and deciding which ideas should be submitted as patent disclosures. It also involved reviewing patent disclosures and, leading other reviewers in deciding which disclosures to submit to the patent office as patent applications. He has also participated in reviewing patent applications from parent attorneys prior to their submittal to the patent office.

While at Motorola he was the manager of a Key Innovation Area and was responsible for developing an Intellectual Property portfolio in wearable devices and applications.

Expert is familiar with brainstorming techniques and led several advanced inventing sessions which resulted in many patent disclosures.

He has personal experience in the invention process with 14 awarded US and international patents and several other applications pending at the patent office.

Expert has over 20 years in research and development in areas of tool development, visual programming research and applied research in mobile devices and applications. Mobile application areas included context awareness, pervasive computing, and wearable technology. Expert has managed the process from concept to both software and hardware implementation. He has created use cases and participated in creating usability trials.

Several projects involved interfacing prototype devices with cell phones. He led the development of both Java J2ME and embedded C on the cell phone. Expert personally developed major portions of the middleware used in the prototypes.

He has also prototyped speech enabled applications and user interfaces on the PC and cell phone using Java, C, and C++. He developed grammars and middleware supporting large vocabulary speaker independent speech recognition and speech synthesis. Projects included first speech based web browser prototype and speech enabled email program.

His research and development efforts resulted in several awarded US and international patents.

Expert has published several articles in technical journals and appeared on MSNBC discussing the research. He has also presented at CES and NextFest, and several technical conferences.

His research resulted in book "Moving Wearables into the Mainstream" published in November 2007 by Springer.
