Expert is a board certified Ob/Gyn by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with an additional board certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and infertility, a designation granted to those with advanced training in infertility and who have passed national certification exams. Following his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he completed his 3 year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinolgy and Infertility in 1990. He was recruited to Wake Forest University where he started the IVF program and served as Associate Professor and Division Director and Vice Chairman in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology where he was a practicing fertility specialist and professor. Expert started 3 successful IVF programs and has been treating couples with infertility since 1987.

Expert has 22 years of experience in the field of assisted reproductive technology, including all aspects of in vitro fertilization. He currently serves as Medical Director of Expert's Firm, a full service infertility center in North Carolina. He has been actively involved in clinical IVF and infertility since the completion of his training in 1990 and has treated thousands of couples. He has extensive clinical research experience in both infertility and reproductive endocrinology. He has written numerous articles and presented scientific research at several national organizations. He has served on the board of several local organizations and is active in his community.

His publications include original papers and chapters on hyperandrogenism and uterine bleeding, transvaginal ultrasound in the office setting, polycystic ovarian disease, fertilization and early embryonic development, molar pregnancy coexisting with normal fetus, spontaneous uterine rupture following treatment of Asherman's syndrome, diagnosis and treatment of cornual obstruction using a flexible tip guidewire, a randomized, controlled trial of clomiphene citrate and intrauterine insemination in couples with unexplained infertility or surgically corrected endometriosis, serum from women with polycystic ovary syndrome inhibits fertilization and embryonic development in the murine in vitro fertilization model, pituitary response to early follicular?phase minidose gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) therapy, clomiphene citrate (CC) ovulation induction in combination with a timed intrauterine insemination (IUI): the value of urinary luteinizing hormone (LH) versus human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) timing, and early transvaginal ultrasound following an accurately dated pregnancy and the importance of finding a yolk sac or fetal heart motion.
