Expert received his M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia in 1983 where he also completed his internship in surgery in 1984. He completed his resident training in otolaryngology at the Eye and Ear Hospital of Pittzburg in 1988 and additional fellowship training in Pediatrics Otolaryngology at the Children's National Medical Center in 1989.

Expert is a Professor of Otolaryngology and Pediatrics at the Expert's Firm and the Past-President of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology, the Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Advances in Children and the Past-chair of the American Academy of Otolaryngology's Pediatric Otolaryngology committee. He has published well over 100 peer reviewed publications on a variety of topics in Pediatric Otolaryngology including otitis media, diseases of the tonsils and adenoids, respiratory papillomas, sinusitis and congenital disorders of the head and neck.

He is familiar with maxillofacial fracture management, management of the ear, nose and throat disorders and pediatric otolaryngology treatment for primary care practitioners. He is also familiar with the role of an Otolaryngologist when treating Down's syndrome patients.

Expert also has experience in clinical information systems, evaluating and assessing the efficiency of the operating room. He has also assessed optima health managed care, performance improvement and policy review at several hospitals.

His experiences include various community service activities including TV appearances, providing medical advice on otitis media and the effects on speech development. He is also familiar with ventilation tubes and the role of myringotomy tubes in regards to otitis media.

He is experienced with tonsillectomy. He has made numerous media appearances, some of which he provided consultation and insights on tonsil and adenoid surgery.
