  • He has undertaken a strategic environmental assessment of the sugar industry in Fiji; describing, identifying and assessing the likely significant environmental challenges, considerations and effects of implementing the National Adaptation Strategy with regard to the environmental impact of the sugar restructuring process.
  • He has developed a macro-level banana/plantain industry strategy for coping with the increased incidence of weather related disasters, with emphasis on floods and hurricanes; a feasibility analysis of available and novel options for an appropriate banana/plantain insurance mechanism, with recommendations that could possibly be applied to other agricultural enterprises and an insurance mechanism plan for the banana/plantain industry.
  • He developed a screening method that estimated the part of the European Union's development aid portfolio that was potentially at risk due to climate change. This included developing and testing a process to screen EC interventions for their likely vulnerability to climate change impacts and their potential direct and indirect consequences on the capacity to adapt to climate change or climate change mitigation potential of a sector/country. Recommendations to respond to CC challenges in development co-operation were made and tested in two countries.
