    Definition:  Hazard Communication Standard - A United States federal regulation under the Occupational Safety and Health Act which requires the preparation and distribution of material safety data sheets (MSDSs) disclosing certain known physical and chemical properties of commercial chemical products, known toxic effects of these products or their components, and appropriate first aid procedures. Employers must also provide training to employees regarding possible hazards and good safety procedures.
