    Definition:  Boride Compound - An interstitial binary compound formed by heating a mixture of boron and another metal, causing the boron atoms to link together in zigzag chains, two-dimensional nets, or three-dimensional structures throughout the crystal. It has a hardness of 8 to 10 on the Mohs scale, a melting point above 2000 degrees Celsius, and is thermally and electrically conductive. It is used in high-temperature applications, such as rocket nozzles and turbines.
