    Definition:  Cadaverine - An organic base that is a member of the class of ptomaine compounds, occurring as a syrupy, odorous liquid. Cadaverine is poisonous if ingested, and is a skin and eye irritant. It is produced by the action of putrefying bacteria on flesh, and has also been prepared synthetically. Cadaverine is used, for example, as a chemical intermediate and in the preparation of high polymers.
