Definition:  Dewetting - The flow of solder away from a soldered surface. It occurs when the surface is reheated subsequent to initial soldering. The surface that was initially wet no longer holds the molten solder; the result is a beading, or dewetting, of the liquid solder. It can lead to field failures due to in-use stresses, and requires special precautions before, during, and after soldering.
