Definition:  Exotoxin - A toxin composed of protein, which is produced inside some bacteria (usually gram positive bacteria) as part of their growth and metabolism, and released into the surrounding medium. It is quite lethal and works by destroying certain parts of the host's cells or by inhibiting certain metabolic functions. It is responsible for producing numerous diseases.
