    Definition:  High-Strength Low-Alloy Steel - A low-alloy steel that contains niobium, vanadium, or other alloying elements, and has a yield strength substantially higher than that of carbon steels. HSLA steel provides high strength without heat treatment, and is used in a variety of applications, including structural applications in cars and trucks, cargo vessels, rail cars, and agricultural, earthmoving, and materials handling equipment. It is also used in office buildings, and highway rails and bridges.
