Paraformaldehyde Experts

    Definition:  Paraformaldehyde - A polymer of formaldehyde having the formula HO(HCHO)nH, in which n may equal a number from 8 to 100. It occurs as a white solid which is formed by evaporating an aqueous solution of formaldehyde, and which can be depolymerized by heat to form formaldehyde gas and water vapor. It is toxic if ingested. Paraformaldehyde is used as a disinfectant, fumigant, fungicide, and as a component of adhesives.
