    Definition:  Tridymite - A white or colorless, monoclinic or triclinic silicate mineral occurring in minute, usually twinned, tabular crystals and crystal aggregates in acidic volcanic rocks and stony meteorites. It is stable between 870 and 1470 degrees Celsius, has a specific gravity of 2.26, a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, and is polymorphous with coesite, cristobalite, quartz, and stishovite.
