Zinc Silicate Experts

    Definition:  Zinc Silicate - A silicate compound consisting of approximately 29% oxygen, 12% silicon, and 59% zinc. It occurs in nature as the mineral willemite, or can be prepared by heating the proper amounts of ZnO and SiO2 at about 1200 degrees Celsius. Properties: white powder, molecular weight 222.85, melting point 1509 degrees Celsius, insoluble in water or dilute acids. It is used in television screens, spray ingredients, and to remove traces of copper from gasoline.
